I rec’d one on Fri my receipt did not print at the pump and I was annoyed that I had to go in but the cashier handed me a card .
Lauren
So you have to go in and get an additional card? This seems a silly way to do it, couldn’t they print a code on your receipt? I always have little ones with me so I don’t leave the car unattended, just pay at the pump. very odd!

Why in the world would anyone be using BP anything at this point?
Lauren
Because they are all as bad as each other and the politics around all oil is terrible, yet we’re stuck because we’re still using cars that run on gasoline…

The people who own many of the BPs don’t have control over corporate policy. The couple who own the BP near me are very nice and friendly. I’d hate to see them become 2 more statistics in this awful economy.

Contrary to popular belief, gas stations are not run by oil companies but by individuals, people who live in your community and pay to have company logos on the stations. BP sells gas to every station across America as does Exxon, Mobil, Shell, etc. In fact, BP supplies the majority of it’s gas to West Coast states and a few reaching into mid-America. BP does not sell it’s gas to the Southern States so that station that you are boycotting may very well be fueled by one of it’s competitors. It is impossible to actually boycott an oil company since they are so widespread AND at the retail level, they are just the little people like you and me. The other reason has to be that we all consume oil in one way or another and our consumption is enormous.

Isn’t it interesting that we boycott BP because they had an accident, but when we have an accident we hope people realize we are human and accidents happen..
BP is doing a lot to make up for their accident.
Lauren
Negligence, lack of any oversight, incompetent designs, etc is NOT an accident. Most accidents are avoidable, this is a good example of where it took a LOT of mistakes to allow this ‘accident’ to happen. Having no respect for anyone, the environment or anything but the bottom line is ridiculous. Unfortunately, as others have pointed out, you can’t boycott them because you don’t know the end supplier in most cases.

I’ll pass-here in Atlanta area, BP is NOT cheap. We buy Quik Trip or Raceway for lowest prices.
Lauren
Really? THat’s interesting! Here and everywhere I’ve lived they match each others prices and track them sooo well you just dno’t see differences!

It’d be interesting (if not a little difficult) to do a cost comparison. In my market they’re 10 cents more a gal. 8galx10 cents = 80 cents x 5 visits would net me $6 since the total in overage cost is $4.

Thats if you happen to be buying only 8 gallons, those of us who drive larger vehicles it wouldnt be worth it.
