It’s hard to believe, but Walmart is getting ready to open up layaway starting Friday, September 13th! However, you can get early access to layaway on Wednesday, September 11th and Thursday, September 12th via this special Facebook link! Note that you do NOT have to “Like” the Walmart Facebook page to claim this offer — I know not all of you are Facebook users, so this is great news.
In other exciting news, Walmart will not be charging any additional fees for layaway this year! I know the whole gift card reimbursement thing was a paint point for many of you last year. In fact, I had issues with it as well — they forgot to give me my gift card when we picked up our layaway order, so I had to pick it up on another trip. This will be a non-issue this year with no opening fee.
You can find the minimum opening order and price per item details below, as well as how the changes for this year compare to years past:
Also of interest is that the Ad Match Guarantee will be in effect for layaway items. This means that Walmart will match any local competitor’s printed ad for an identical item on layaway items throughout the holiday season!
Layaway is a fantastic way to help budget for your holiday shopping. Plus it allows you to reserve the hottest items of the season now, before they become too hard to find, and with the ad match policy, you’re still guaranteed to get the lowest price available. Be sure to snag your FREE early access to Walmart layaway now!

Not really sure I understand the idea behind the price limits. So I can’t put socks and t-shirts in layaway because they are under 15.00 an item? Or is it a min. of 15.00 of clothing items that I can put in? Thanks

I believe it’s items under a specific price point, but I will try to get clarification.

Each item has to cost $15 before taxes in order to be eligible for layaway.
