I’m willing to be that most of you have a box of baking soda sitting in your cabinet right now. You may pull it out from time to time when baking, or maybe you use it to absorb odors in your refrigerator or freezer. But there are a ton of uses for baking soda outside of baking!
Were you surprised at any of the suggestions on the list? Or do you have one of your own to add?

I sprinkle a little in the bathwater when my son has a really bad diaper rash. It clears it up really quickly!

I liked the ideas of using baking soda as a laundry additive and for freshening up the dishwasher. My favorite use for baking soda is in cleaning my kitchen sink. Baking soda is just one of those great, safe, multi-purpose items that every home should have. It’s nice to be able to clean some of the items in your home without using harsh chemicals.

I mix it with a small amount of water to make a paste and use it to whiten my teeth. I drink a lot of coffee and my dentist said this would be an inexpensive way to keep my teeth looking great. Use once a week or when necessary.

When I was in highschool and I had prom, or a semi-formal event to go to and I would get my hair done it was always a pain to wash out all of the hairspray that the hair dressers put in it so the hairdressers eventually told me to put a little bit of baking soda in with my shampoo and that it would help get the hairspray off my hair without damaging the hair itself. It worked amazingly!

My favorite use is a kitchen drain cleaner/deoderizer. Pour baking soda then vinegar directly into your kitchen drain, it will start fizz. Let it sit for 10-15 minutes than run hot water for a couple of minutes. I don’t have a garbage disposal, so this helps break down whatever grease might be lining my pipes. It also takes care of the stinky smell that comes up from my drains.

I use baking soda for everything, I like to use it to brush my teeth and I always get compliments on how white my teeth are.
I like to use it in my kids bath tub, instead of using harsh bathroom cleaning products. Think about it our skin is the largest organ in our body not to mention the largest organ of absorption, you don’t want those harsh chemical residue to absorb into your littles body. I sprinkle baking soda in the tub with a bit of white vinegar and an old tooth brush to get rid of soap scum.
