I know many of you wanted to follow along as I attempt to make more of our grocery staples from scratch this year, so I’m excited to share this recipe for homemade Bisquick substitute with you!
It’s every bit as good as store bought Bisquick, and I love that I can whip up homemade biscuits from scratch in just about 15 minutes with it on hand.

Holy moses, this is timely! I just ran out of Bisquick and was hoping for a sale. Why did it never occur to me to make it myself, how easy!
Thanks for sharing!

Thanks so much! I was getting ready to buy some more for pie shells. The frozen ones in the stores are so expensive. I make a lot of pies and am so excited to try this.

In your Bisquick mix, is your butter the real stick butter or margarine? I made a last batch with Crisco shortening and it came out really strange so I want to be sure. Thanks! Love your site!

I use real butter when I cook — none of that faux stuff for me. In fact, I’d love to try making my own butter too…

I’ve made mine and also cornmeal mix and you really can’t tell it from the real mix. Thanks for reminding me to do it.

Cornmeal mix is a great idea! I’ll have to add that to my list.

Thanks so much! We use a ton of Bisquick (or at least my husband does since he’s the cook) and even with a coupon, it’s not very cheap! My husband loves to make homemade biscuits now since he’s mastered the art of “gravy”. He’ll be excited!

Check out https://thepioneerwoman.com. This lady is amazing! She has several recipes for substitutes including onion soup mix, etc. I love this website and I check it everyday!

This is great. I’ve never thought to make this myself. I’ve been on a kick to make more things myself too. I made strawberry milkshakes in my ice cream maker last night. My goal is to try making my own puff pastry this week. The frozen kind is so expensive.
