If you take 20% off something that costs $20, it drops the price to $16, then when you take an additional 10% off, the price drops to $14.40 (or 28% off). It's not really that big of a difference with these small amounts, but I've noticed some people think that 50% off plus 20% off means 70% off, when it really only equals 60% off.
