Not to be a downer, but I really, really encourage anyone who is considering getting a pet for Christmas to read up on the care for this animal. NO animal should have a child as their primary caregiver, Meaning mom or dad must have daily awareness of how the pet is doing. Kids are forgetful, let’s face it.
Also, be aware that many of these animals require pretty expensive set-ups to maintain their health, (ESPECIALLY reptiles). I am a licensed vet. tech., and we see a great number of these animals in a terrible state of health, due to no other reason than ignorance. It’s sad, because these little guys really do suffer greatly as a result. A good website with info on care for these guys is https://www.exoticpetvet.com/. (And no, I don’t work there).
Ok, off soap-box now.

I wholeheartedly agree, Liz. Thanks for taking the time to comment!

Thanks! I am hoping my husband will read this! He’s been wanting to get the kids another pet, but with a 7 year old who is into almost every sport possible, a 9 month old, 2 cats, a diabetic dog, and a full time job he just doesn’t understand why I don’t want to get the kids another thing to deal with right now.

Standing in a mile-long line, arguing with someone over the last stock on the shelf, squeezing myself in a super crowded mall… I really don’t mind. That’s what I love about Black Friday. :) Happy Christmas Shopping.
