New Crayola Crayons were one of my favorite back-to-school supplies as a kid. There was just something about a brand new pack of shiny, multi-colored crayons that inspired me to want to create colorful images of hearts and rainbows and all things sparkly and pretty that the imaginations of young girls conjure up. That waxy scent still takes me right back to the first day of 2nd grade, kind of like the smell of Playdoh reminds me of rainy day fun. . .

I'm so glad that Crayola products have stood the test of time and are now inspiring a new generation of imaginations. And I'm happy to share with you about how you can join in the fun!

Every Tuesday night through the month of August, Crayola is sponsoring "Girls Night Out" on Twitter - the mommy social gathering featuring colorful and engaging discussions on all things back-to-school. Crayola has teamed up with MomItForward.com, the creator of "Girls Night Out" (GNO), to bring you the "Crayola Creativitycast." The weekly series of GNO discussions will feature a new topic each week like "Affordable Fun 101" and "Back to School Survival Guide," and all GNO participants will have the chance to win great prizes!

For more details about tonight’s #GNO chat and how to participate, go here.

Don't worry if you've already got plans during these events – you also have the opportunity to win one of four Crayola Creativity Packs right here on Deal Seeking Mom!

  • Crayola Window Crayons, to help let your little ones transform glass surfaces into instant decorations with bright colors that wipe clean with a damp cloth.

  • Crayola Color Explosion Black Extreme Surprises, which comes complete with a stencil sheet and two Broad Tip Color Explosion clear ink markers.
  • Crayola Color Switchers, which are dual-ended markers that allow kids to magically change the colors of their drawings with a swoosh of the “color switch” tip.

My favorite memory was using the big fat set of 8 Crayola Crayons when I was in kindergarten. Now my boys are about the same age I was, and I get to relive my Crayola memories with them =)

I use to enjoy a new box of crayons as well. But it would take me forever to use them! I never wanted to because I felt it would some how make them unusable.

My favorite memory of using Crayola crayons is simply the smell and the sight of a new box of 64. I love seeing them all lined up, perfect, untouched. I'd run my fingers over them. I'd pull out every one and read the name of the color. I just love them.

Also I messed up the memory thing, so here is a new one! The memory of ME as a child is painting and making a huge mess. I would paint outside and the paper and sidewalk were always a work of art when I was done.

My favorite Crayola memory was opening a brand new box of 64. I loved how it smelled and I couldn't wait to use them, but at the same time I was afraid to make them even slightly less than perfect. I knew all the names of every crayon. I still get excited when I give them to my children.

My best memory is when we would go on trips we would get a special coloring book and be able to color the whole book at one time. I also enjoy coloring with my children now. It is so relaxing and brings out the little kid in me.

27 Erma August 25, 2009 at 8:32 am

I remember playing with sidewalk calk. It was fun and messy at the same time.

28 Kate August 25, 2009 at 8:33 am

My favorite memory is coloring in my giant Barbie coloring book when I was about 4 years old. I loved using my 64 pack of crayons to color the pictures that were almost as big as I was. I always keep an eye out for the big Crayola coloring pads when they go on sale, so I can color them with my daughter.

29 Latisha Walker August 25, 2009 at 9:01 am

My memory of using Crayola products is using them to draw unicorns and selling the pictures in the 2nd grade to other classmates:)
