New Crayola Crayons were one of my favorite back-to-school supplies as a kid. There was just something about a brand new pack of shiny, multi-colored crayons that inspired me to want to create colorful images of hearts and rainbows and all things sparkly and pretty that the imaginations of young girls conjure up. That waxy scent still takes me right back to the first day of 2nd grade, kind of like the smell of Playdoh reminds me of rainy day fun. . .
I’m so glad that Crayola products have stood the test of time and are now inspiring a new generation of imaginations. And I’m happy to share with you about how you can join in the fun!
Every Tuesday night through the month of August, Crayola is sponsoring “Girls Night Out” on Twitter – the mommy social gathering featuring colorful and engaging discussions on all things back-to-school. Crayola has teamed up with MomItForward.com, the creator of “Girls Night Out” (GNO), to bring you the “Crayola Creativitycast.” The weekly series of GNO discussions will feature a new topic each week like “Affordable Fun 101” and “Back to School Survival Guide,” and all GNO participants will have the chance to win great prizes!
For more details about tonight’s #GNO chat and how to participate, go here.

I remember the excitement of opening the a new box of crayons, all shiny and sharp. I was so excited whenever I was given a 64 pack with a a sharpener.

I remember entering a drawing contest in 1st grade. Mine sucked becuase I had no crayons at home to color with. I will never forget this kid, Dave’s drawing. His was amazing. He is now a graphic artist/cartoonist. Guess some people are born with amazing talents.

Crayola crayons always make me think of my cousin Diana. We would trace clothing from paper dolls and make new ones and use our crayons to color them to make more outfits for the paper dolls.
Like many of the others I had the 64 pack with every shade under the sun from periwinkle to bronze. It’s hard to believe there are larger packs now.

My favorite crayola memory was getting the special Christmas tins full of crayons under the tree along with a new coloring book. I would be occupied for hours!

My favorite memory of Crayola is seeing the crayons in the box all brand new ready for me to color anything I want to my heart’s content. I think I still feel that way when I see a brand new box of crayons!

I love the smell of a brand new box of crayons.

I remember a lot of fun times just coloring with the crayons itself, but it wasn’t until I went into middle school where my teacher showed me a whole new way to enjoy our crayons… we melt the crayons and made candles out of them! :)

My cousins and I would color a small mountain of color books when we were at grandma’s house.

I remember entering coloring contests using my Crayola crayons and markers. I even won a stuffed dinosaur one time!

as silly as it seems now, my favorite memory was sharpening the crayons in the built-in sharpener in the back of the box.

I LOVE Crayola products. I taught art for five years, and always cringed when a student would show up on the first day of school with another brand.

I loved melting crayon shavings with an iron between 2 pieces of wax paper to make “stained glass”. I like to do that with my kids now! Thanks for the offer!

My favorite memory actually has to do with old crayons..you know, the broken and paperless ones…LOL! I remember shaving little pieces off (with supervision of course) and melting them on wax paper with a hot iron. The mini “stained glass” masterpieces were so much fun!

My favorite Memory is sitting at the table on Christmas Eve, making homemade Christmas Cards for each member in the family I would see the next day!! Thanks for the chance. [email protected]

I remember at the end of the school year bringing home all my school supplies along with my brothers and storing all of our crayons in a ice cream bucket….colors galore. My favorite crayons (which did not go in the ice cream bucket) were mixed with silver so it left a two-tone image. Loved using them to color in MY LITTLE PONY coloring book.

Always remember starting the school year with a box of new, sharp Crayola crayons!

of course coloring, but we also loved to melt the crayons & squish & twist them into a multi-color stick & color with it – too fun

I love coloring and it’s not the same if you don’t have crayola crayons. They are smooth when you color. I used to color all the time when I was younger. Now I color with my soon to be 3 year old daughter. She is about to start preschool, this pack would be great. I am a subscriber to your e-mails.

Although I always loved getting NEW crayola, I loved using the “old” or broken crayolas to melt down into candles, or melt them down into glass jars and layer different colors on top to create designs. I remember melting them into a little dixie cup to make one HUGE crayon. Then you just peel the paper cup away after it dries! Great way to be creative as a child and not let anything go to waste!!
