Garnets are my favorite because I grew up vacationing at Garnet Lake in upstate NY where they mined garnets and then used them as part of the dirt on the unpaved roads. We would always collect the garnets in cups.

19 Lauren December 9, 2009 at 5:32 pm

So now for the comment to tell you WHY I love Lapis - It's supposed to aid in one's understanding of oneself. It's believed by some that Lapis is difficult for many people to wear because it makes you see yourself as you truly are, clearing away self-delusions. I also love it because it's a dark, mysterious stone and those glittery flecks of pyrite give it the "royal" feel that I'm sure made it so attractive to ancient people.
